Coendersborg originated in the late 17th century from the amalgamation of land from three farms, purchased by Ludolf Coenders, namesake of the then borg. In the region, this Ludolf was active and successful in peat extraction. The old borg fell into disrepair and was replaced by a country house in 1813: the current Coendersborg. The property was built in neo-classical style. The country house is part of a historic country estate. The estate offers a wide variety of nature: flowery grasslands fringed with wooded banks, deciduous and coniferous trees and even a small heath. Many unusual animals find their home here.
